I've always loved Tammy's Etsy shop - Hot Lava Clothing (http://hotlavaclothing.etsy.com/). The first thing that drawn me to her shop was the cutest little model she uses for most of her items. Then I was "suck in" by all of the beautiful tropical prints in her store. Her pictures are always so sunny, bright and cheerful which makes me feel warm and cozy, especially when the outside is dark and gloomy. Finally about a month ago I sat down with my little girl and picked out her favorite print! We also selected something for my son but I will do another review on that later.

Tammy was so sweet to work with me on this order. I provided the measurement and the style and she made it exactly the way I requested it. I have been waiting for the perfect warm sunny day to put it on my daughter so I can take the best picture I am capable of taking. Finally last Sunday I was able to do that! So here is the outfit on my daughter!

I have this ribbon for a long time. I love it so much I made a ribbon headband for my daughter with it. Then I put it aside thinking that I will create a set of bows with the rest of the ribbon. One day my mother was out, and my dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my mom came home.

My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' Mom waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy; and she watched him drink it up.

Then she said, (as only a mother would know), "'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?"

Bowholders - Trying something new

After making thousands of bows I've decided to try making something new - bow holders! (yes, i guess they are kind of related so maybe not so new. LOL) So here are two of them that I made and more to come. These are made with wood and has at least 30 inches of ribbon to store your favorite bows. My daughter loves them as a room decoration and I love them because now I have such an easy time finding her bows!

I never knew I could be so obssessed wth bath and body product until I made my first purchase from Famara Designs! I don't even know how to describe how happy I am with her products! So I will do my best below...

1) They are SUPER moisturizing. My daughter has mile eczema and it really bugs me because it keeps on coming back after it got better! She always get them in between her fingers which makes it hard to notice until it gets so itchy. Ever since she started using the strawberry and coconut soap I got from Famara Designs (pictured), her eczema has not come back!

2) They SMELL good enough to EAT! She has exotic flavored bath soaps such as Pina Colada, Mango and Papaya, Orange and Coconut,etc. Before I open the box I can already smell the sweet aroma from the soaps. It is that good!

3) I love how CUTE and PRETTY they look. All of those that I bought I loved but I was particularly impressed by the Valentine's Chocolate set. Each set comes in two bars that looks like two pieces of chocolate/candy and is packaged in a pillow box like a party favor. I asked her to create the two soaps in different flavor, one in strawberry and one in chocolate. When I gave my friends the gift, I had to tell them "don't eat it"! And some of them actually told me afterward that they are glad I warned them because they would've bite right into them!

She no longer has the item listed on her shop so I couldn't link a picture here. But here are some other awsome items she has in her store:

I figured I'd list 30 so we'd almost always have one to blame for each new day of the month. If there are 31 days in any given month, just cycle back to number 1.

How to use this list:

Print it out. Cut each number up onto its own little slip of paper. Put them in a jar. Each day when you're wondering why you haven't sold anything, pull a slip of paper out and get your answer.

1) George W. Bush. Yup. Everything's his fault.

2) Barack Obama. Freaking socialist. Screwing up all this wonderful capitalism on Etsy.

3) The economy. Seriously people. Look around. Nobody has a job. Nobody has money. Why do they want your stuff when you have the nerve to charge them money for it in these tough times?

4) Relevancy- need I say more?

5) Recency- need I say more?

6) Resellers. Why would people buy my stuff on Etsy when they can buy Target's products here too? I mean seriously, what do I have that can compete with stuff from Target? It's so much easier for people to buy those things on Etsy than it is to just drive to their local Target.

7) Undercutters. Yes undercutters. I mean you. Everyone has their own reasons for naming a price. But I haven't seen William Shatner here so I'm pretty fricking sure this ain't Priceline. If you want to sell something that took you 22 hours to make for $10, you and I are going to have a problem. I'll meet you outside after school after the bell rings. Alone.

8) The weather. If it's hot, they don't want your stuff. If it's cold, they don't want it either. So strap yourselves in because whatever the season people ain't buyin what you're sellin.

9) Your prices are too high. You think folks want to pay $50 for some yarn tied in a bunch of knots? I don't care if it looks like a hat. It's a bunch of yarn. In knots.

10) Your prices are too low. Hmm. That item looks like a lot of work. Why are you only charging me $5 for it? Oh, probably because you live in a crack house and have swine flu. Yeah, I don't trust it. I'm going to go buy it from someone who will charge me $20 for the same exact thing.

11) People are stupid.

12) The internet is broken. Yes. The whole internet. Call Al Gore. I heard he can fix it.

13) You're never on the front page.

14) You're never in gift guides.

15) You're never a featured seller.

16) You're never in Etsy finds.

17) No one liked you in high school.

18) They don't like you here either.

19) People need to see your items in person to appreciate them. Okay, maybe not that underwear made out of cream corn, but you know what I'm saying.

20) You have your items on a gasp, real person, in your listing photos. I mean, come on. That necklace was completely sterile and free of all bacteria until you let it touch that ugh, HUMAN! Now it's no good. Sorry. Game over.

21) You are not showing your items on a human. How can I tell if those panties will look good on me when the mannequin doesn't have a spotty arse like mine? It's false advertising.

22) Your photos are too dark. Yes, yes, I know you're selling a lamp that glows in the dark. But still, your photos are just way too dark dude.

23) You need more items in your shop. Would you keep going back to Home Depot if they only had six flashlights and a pile of shingles in stock? I thought not.

24) You have too many items in your shop. I mean really, those huge stores like Walmart with tons and tons of items in tons and tons of different categories are never going to be successful. Nobody looks past the first five aisles. Oh, uh, wait...

25) Your items are aimed at too narrow of a market. I'm sure if there were more professional football players from Tasmania shopping on Etsy your tasmanian football helmets would be doing much, much better. Honest.

26) You have to go find your target market. No, I'm not going to tell you who they are or how you'll recognize them, but trust me, you have to find them. And fast.

27) Don't rely on Etsy to make your shop successful. I mean, I know we're on Etsy, and we pay money to Etsy and are here because it's well, Etsy. But yeah, don't count on them for a thing. If anything, pretend like they're working against you. You'll be better off.

28) It's a slow time of year. Maybe not for everyone else, but for you, that's the time of year it is.

29) You haven't built up enough momentum. So take all your inventory in your arms, put it in a shopping cart and send it down a hill to get some momentum going. Report back in the forums after the sales start rolling in.

30) You're not in the US. Just because people in your own country wouldn't buy it, doesn't mean that Americans are dumb enough to (hard to believe, I know).

Her shop is a wonderful mix of decorated clipboards, albums, keepsakes, recipe boxes, bag tags, greeting cards and more. From babies to weddings, Angi is full of creative designs! Her designs can be kept for yourself or be given as a gift!

Angi lives in Texas. She is a Mother, Public School Teacher, U.S. Veteran, and Avid Scrapbooker. The creative bug hit her years ago and she has been designing & creating for family and friends for years.

What made you first want to become an artist?

A friend of mine invited me to scrapbook with her one weekend. That first scrapbook event was so much fun. After that I was hooked. (SMILE)

Please describe your creative process how, when, materials, etc.

I get ideas from things around me. Beautiful flowers, butterflies, rainbows, the sunshine here in Texas, or just about anything colorful makes me want to capture it on paper and create. Being a mom also helps me design things for my own children. Once I show the designs to others they want me to make it for them too.

You sell a wide variety of items. What is your favorite thing to create?

My favorite things to create are acrylic scrapbooks and altered tins. I love to use colorful embellishments made of chipboard or those with 3 dimensional effects. Different rub-on designs, inks, and acrylic paints are also fun to add to my creations. Using high quality embellishments really make my creations “Pop” and stand out.

How do you promote your work?

This is a new item that I just listed on my etsy store. Being in Southern California the only way for me to have a white Christmas is to head to the mountain, but I always think Christmas is never "complete" without a little snow!

My New Favorite

This new set of bows was just created last week and I can't wait to list them because they are just too beautiful. I love the color combinations and the beautiful sparkling rhinestones. One reason why it is so special is becuase I used the Swarovski rhinestones for the Blue Clip. and I really like the three stone designs very much. I am very very happy with them!

Gearing up for the football season

Well I am a little late b/c the season has started but better late than never, right? So this is the item that I created for this year's football season. a bow clips that can be customize to support any one's favorite team. A blend of color ribbon representing the team colors and a super cute football print. so now the little one can get into the football spirit like the adults! So far so good, got 2 sales out of it and hoping for more before the season ends. :)

I found out this website http://www.craftjuice.com/ through some other social network sites so I thought I would give it a try and submit an entry or two. the first entry, autumn sunrise, didn't get notice. So I tried it the second time with flower girl set. This morning when I checked out the site I was on the very first page!!!! I got 5 votes total and is on the first page of both the main page and the made for kids page. I was so happy I almost jump up to the ceiling. Hopefully there will be more and more people noticing my work and become a fan...with that said, off to work on my facebook fan page this evening...

Created this set over the weekend and absolutely in love with it! I love the colors of the fall - red, orange, yellow and brown and this set has all of them and more. I also love how the yellow flower rhinestone is so sparkling against the brown ribbon. I hope this will be a popular item. It is officially my personal favorite.

I have heard of blogging and have read many blogs. this is my first. I am nervous and not sure what to do so...I will just talk about myself I guess...

I am a mother of two beautiful little children. My daughter is very girly and love princessy stuff. So I started making hair bows for her to match her outfit. Before I knew it I've developed a great passion for making bows and started making more and more. I started an online store to "get rid" of my existing "inventory" first but to my surprise (which I probably should have known) I ended up making even more bows.
